WISEMAN & GALE: TODD NICKEY & MIKE DÍAZ
The Future of Fine Craftsmanship
Join us for an intimate conversation hosted by Wiseman & Gale featuring Todd Nickey of Nickey Kehoe and Mexico City decorative artist Mike Díaz of Studio Mike Díaz. Centered on creativity, the changing landscape of design, and the growing rarity of truly fine craftsmanship, the discussion brings together two distinct voices with a shared respect for the human hand behind the work.
Moderated by Scott Burdick, the conversation will explore how true craftsmanship is becoming increasingly rare, how studios and makers are adapting to shifting tastes and timelines, and why craft, materials, and the people who know how to work with them are becoming more valuable than ever.

MIKE DÍAZ | STUDIO MIKE DÍAZ
Mike Díaz is a Mexico City–based decorative artist and esthete known for eye-catching furnishings and objects that play with history, symbolism, and scale in the most irresistible way. His work is celebrated for its rustic, whimsical character, bold forms, and generous proportions, often carrying ceremonial themes with an ironic edge. For more than twenty years, he has collaborated with artisans and workshops in Michoacán and Guerrero, alongside a wider network of experts in popular and fine art, shaping pieces that feel tactile, collected, and full of presence.
In the design world, Mike Díaz is known for pulling from a wide range of references, leaning into Mexican Baroque and Mexico’s visual history, then translating it into something unmistakably his. He’s not interested in chasing what’s “in” right now. The people who collect his work tend to be the ones who want furniture with real presence, personality, and staying power.

TODD NICKEY
Todd Nickey is the co-founder of Nickey Kehoe, the AD100 studio and one of design’s true cult favorites. The work has that effortless “collected over time” aesthetic, and their shops in Los Angeles and New York have become a go-to for designers and design lovers hunting for incredible vintage pieces, lighting, and the kind of objects that make a room feel finished. Todd’s eye is all about the quiet power of great proportion, honest materials, and pieces with a story, and he’s helped shape Nickey Kehoe into the place people look to when they want a home to feel lived-in, elevated, and personal. If you’ve ever saved one of their interior or shop objets and thought, “That’s style,” Todd is a big reason why.
