AN ARISTA STONES STORY
Arista Stones, now embarking on its 25th year in business, is a family-owned operation dedicated to globally sourcing marble, quartzite, granite, and other natural stones. The stone company, with locations in Tempe and Salt Lake City, serves a client base including homeowners, designers, and builders seeking premium natural stone products.
“We have earned a reputation for our service, and our clients count on us being there every step of the way. Natural stone is an investment, and we want to empower our clients to make the right choice. When someone visits our showroom, they leave with a solid understanding of the materials, how to care for them, and all the nuances of each stone. Whether you buy one or 10 slabs, we are able to handle any size order, and you get the same service no matter what.”
Custom sourcing and global design voyages are another unique service offered by Arista. Depending upon the project, Arista will either go on demand to select a large number of slabs of a certain color for a project or take a designer on a global sourcing trip. “We’re working to see how we can make this more accessible, as there is truly nothing like being there in person to see and select natural stone products in the country where they are sourced,” says Vidya, Arista Stones CEO.
There is so much passion behind what we do, and our team is incredible. We are a 15-person company, not a big private equity operation, and we take pride in being hands-on every day. Our foundation is grit and integrity, shaped by my parents, who came to this country with nothing and built a life through hard work and perseverance. That spirit drives how we care for our team, who we see as family, and how we serve our clients. Integrity is at the heart of our customer service. We want to prove you can be a real force in this industry while still doing things the right way. That is what drives our team. We are honest, accountable, and committed.”
A FAMILY STORY SHAPES A FORWARD-LOOKING FIRM
When Jan Swartz stepped into leadership at Swartz Construction, it was truly sink or swim. More than 12 years later, the family-founded firm continues to thrive under her direction, guided by experience, collaboration, and a commitment to lasting quality.
MOLLY KIDD - DESIGNING WITHOUT A TIMESTAMP
As part of a Fall ‘25 Edition of Desert Design Week, Molly Kidd ( Molly Kidd Studio) joined a live audience to reflect on what it means to create interiors that endure. In a design culture saturated by sameness, the Pacific Northwest–based interior designer is intent on slowing the conversation down, shifting focus away from trends and toward a more intentional, lived-in approach to design.
Kidd, who has spent more than a decade shaping residential projects nationwide, approaches her work less as a series of trends and more as a way of living. Her interiors resist immediacy. Instead, they favor patience, restraint, and a studied understanding of how spaces evolve over time.
“Design is a lifestyle,” Kidd says. “And truly good design is hard to find right now.”
It’s a sentiment shaped by the realities of the current visual economy, where endless inspiration has paradoxically narrowed originality. With everyone sourcing from the same platforms and manufacturers, Kidd sees a growing desire among clients for interiors that feel authentic, personal, and untethered to a particular moment.
Her solution is deceptively simple, balance. Each project is anchored by an intentional mix of roughly fifty percent new and fifty percent vintage. The result is a layered sensibility that feels both grounded and quietly unexpected. In Kidd’s interiors, nothing announces its era. Instead, pieces coexist in a way that feels inevitable rather than curated.

DDW FALL ‘25 EDITION
This October, more than 1,500 guests gathered for the Fall Edition of Desert Design Week, a weeklong celebration of art, design, and architecture across Phoenix and Scottsdale. Guided by this year’s theme Creative Analog, this edition invited guests to slow down, to look closer, and to reconnect with the tactile beauty of human design.
Across showrooms, studios, and storied spaces, Desert Design Week became a dialogue between creativity and community. Every event, whether a creativity-filled evening, a quiet ikebana gathering, or a design conversation, was an expression of the handmade, the thoughtful, and the enduringly beautiful.
Maderos - Paradise Valley
For the spring edition of Desert Design Week, we had the pleasure of collaborating with artist Rika Kova, Rossland Holdings, and their creative director and real estate representative Justin Shea, on a special Desert Design Week moment at Maderos — Arizona’s first “Biophilic Estate” in Paradise Valley. The project brought together sculpture in its many forms, highlighting the shared language between art, home, and nature.
Artist - Rika Kova
During Desert Design Week this past April, artist and sculptor Rika Kova brought a striking presence to the Art + Architecture Home Tour with a pop-up installation at Maderos—Arizona’s first biophilic estate. Known for her organic ceramic forms and minimal yet tactile aesthetic, Rika’s work seamlessly echoed the natural materials and architectural lines of the home. Her pieces added a sculptural rhythm to the space, inviting guests to pause, observe, and feel.
Design Notes - With Cameron Custom
Moderated by Cammie Beckert of Cameron Custom, the panel featured three of the Valley’s most respected voices in design: Jaimee Rose of Jaimee Rose Interiors, Jeff Berghoff of Berghoff Design Group, and Susan Biegner of Biegner-Murff Architects. Each panelist brought their unique lens to the table, sharing personal stories, professional advice, and a shared passion for designing with intention.
A Design Studio Experience
During the Wine & Design at Camelot Homes Design Studio in Scottsdale, guests were able to revel in the awe of architectural features with an emphasis on tessellation. With collaborators such as Cameron Custom, Facings of America and Alfonso Versuzco Design, it became evident that architecture can be just as creative, artistic, and compelling as what fills the inside of any space.

Le Potager Garden Soirée
Mayla Greiner is a garden designer, passionate plant enthusiast, and creator of spaces that feel like a conversation with nature. On her days at home, Mayla begins each morning immersed in her garden. For her, this daily ritual is more than tending to plants—it’s a grounding practice that fosters creativity, a collaboration where the garden nurtures as much as it is nurtured. It’s this deep connection to nature that shaped the Le Potager Garden Soirée during Desert Design Week.
The soirée was a celebration of autumn, community, and creativity in the dreamiest of settings—Mayla’s own lush garden. Guests were invited to experience the garden under the evening sky, complete with delicious bites, artful styling, live music and meaningful connections.
Artist - Benjamin Latham
We were proud to showcase Ben Latham’s remarkable works during our pop-up galleries at Desert Design Week. His work is a reflection of contemporary South and Southwest —a vibrant mix of Laurel Canyon's free spirit, West Texas dive bar authenticity, and the legacy of the Taos Society of Artists. Drawing inspiration from the Horizontal Yellow's mystique, his work channels a psychedelic honky-tonk energy. Desert sunsets, country music rhythms, and a culture of resilience all influence his oil paintings.
