The Arizona Modernist “Eames of the Desert” power-couple you’ve probably never heard of: Allen Ditson & Lee Porzio. Together, this artistic renaissance duo embraced a plethora of materials and projects during the 1950s + 60s in the Valley of the Sun—from pierced metals, molded concrete, cording, tile mosaics or Antiquity style tapestries—to a variety of Valley-wide commissions ranging from airports, banks, public art, churches, and custom home furnishings. Today, much of their public commissions no longer exist. The remaining bespoke artworks, curios and original furniture weren’t mass-produced.
